I think that we should make bread making a regular part of our routine at school. With a simple bread like this, the children simply mix, let it rise overnight, the shape it and bake it in the morning.
Oh joy, from time to time I've made that with the children and like you, I think of it as a way to enlight the children with the feeling that everybody can cook!!! (this makes flesh to the Reggio expression of the competent child) Lets hear your recipe - I'll try to find time to put some of my own pictures at a post; I like to let the children work as buddies in pairs of 2, thus to evolve their cooperation-ability. The boys from our 5 years group made bread in that way, and it was served along with the coffee for the parent-meeting - "tonight You get bakery made by your own kids - that explains the variety of it" isn't that something.
Its wonderful that you share the food with the families - we are having a picnic at the end of the year, and it would be brilliant to have bread made by the children for everyone to share. Let me know when you post your photos, Thomas! And I'll share the recipe soon.
