Today, we sketched the flowering Magnolia tree as we prepare to enquire about "change" for the rest of the school year. Then, we went to the forest for open play, and they definitely played. Some of the children found a broken birdhouse in the forest, and we'll be talking about how to fix it during this week. They are talking about hammers, nails, glue, and tape...we'll see how it unfolds.
I love seeing preschoolers out and about in nature Allie, and especially love that you give them time for free play. I think that is so important for them to really explore and build a relationship with the local natural environment. The pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeletemagnolia blossoms are one of the very best things about spring :)
ReplyDeleteHow nice to see and 'hear' about the children's discoveries in nature's classroom, the birdhouse recovery project definitely sounds like it has potential.
