I took some time today to watch a child use materials in a new way. This was important for me to see from a teacher perspective because I think I have become more flexible with materials. It was also important in the perspective that I saw T active and engaged in this. Even though she did not have any words to go along with it, she said so much with her actions. I hope I'm on the road to more meaningful documentation.
As a follow up, it would be cool to show T the pictures and ask her to talk about what she was doing. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Juliann. I think that is an important piece in documentation - knowing that it can be flexible. You see all of this gorgeous documentation and well captured stories and you wonder who was able to write down every word nd take photographs and keep the children engaged - but each documentation experience is unique, isn't it? T and I will look at these photos on Monday, and then perhaps work with the same materials with her and a small group.
